Does anyone know when we’ll get the decision on him? Or what IU is expecting to happen? They kept mentioning on the broadcast that today could be his last game of eligibility. I think he would be a big loss because we are pretty thin at safety anyway.

He has a hearing on Wednesday the 10th. IU, like a lot of people, are holding their breath. Anytime you put things in the hands of a judge you could get a result you don't like.

I have attached our running article on the matter.

He has been a stud these past two games.  He is truely playing like this could be his last collegiate games.  We would miss his contributions for sure.

Anybody out there smarter than most of us have an opinion on the viability of his case?  Are the odds in his favor, stacked against him, etc.?

I don’t have any sort of useful view on his case.

I do think that if we put the merits of the case aside, I can only hope there is some help in that Louis has already started playing games and earning money this season.  Basically, his career is on track.  Is this judge really gonna yank him off the field/team, significantly reduce his earnings, and also damage Louis’ pro prospects (in whatever league that may be)?  I hope not.

Perhaps if it’s something like a 50/50-ish situation, the judge lets the kid keep earning a living in his chosen and ideal profession.

This is exactly the kind of "damages" Moore has claimed he would suffer if the NCAA prevails. How ironic would it be if the court proves his point by ruling against him.

But every player suffers those same 'damages' when their career is over.

A bunch of players could have made good money this year if they had eligibility. But they didn't.

@jj_mcclure I think he has a good argument.  There are almost no jobs the country where they tell you that you have to retire after 5 years.  In any other profession, it would be an obvious anti-trust violation.

But I have no idea how the Court will rule, and it may be very interesting,  because if Moore wins this one, someone else is probably going to sue for unlimited eligibility next.

@whatthefrik I don’t really think this is the case. The only thing LM hangs his hat on is the NCAA ruling that JV years no longer count. The problem is that they held the 5 year limit but forgot about adding the COVID year for those that were in school then. That is really the argument. Does the extra COVID year count with the JV rule?

I personally don’t see a judge ruling against college kids who are being limited in their opportunities to earn money by the evil NCAA.  I think that judges realize that the bumbling fools of the NCAA have effed up enough situations in their history to see that they are on the wrong side of this.  Horrible look for the NCAA, who have always said that they are the champions of the student-athletes, to attempt to yank the rug out from under their feet.  Wasn’t 2020 a COVID year and the JUCOs didn’t even play games that year, Moore’s first season?

If he loses than the Vanderbilt QB should immediately declared ineligible and not allowed to play from that date on. He won his case with the same argument as Louis.

@iufan-ga25 It's actually slightly different. Moore has been eligible for 5.5 season. There's a slight difference.

We better hope he has eligibility. Bonds getting hurt and Baldwin not being able to suit up the past two games puts us in a tough spot to start B1G slate if Moore cant go.

If Pavia is allowed to play for Vanderbilt, there is no reason Moore shouldnt be allowed to play for us.
