My brother had been looking for tickets.  He saw what he thought was a great deal in a perfect location.  He decided to pull the trigger and did so very quickly so he wouldn’t lose them.

A few minutes later after he purchased the tickets, he looked at the emailed receipt.  It was then he realized he had just bought tickets for the Big 12 championship game in Dallas.  I couldn’t stop laughing.

Im sure he won’t have any issues selling them but he will have to wait until after the game is played to get his money.

I’ll be telling this story for years.

This is why I always do bigger purchases on a PC/laptop and not a phone.  I could see myself doing this otherwise.  I'm also old(er).

@gros-louis Also.... We shouldnt assume OSU fans dont want to go to this game. OSU hasnt played in a B1G 10 championship game since 2020, I bet demand will be pretty big on their end.

@hoosierdaddy Just heard from my guy in the athletic department regarding B1G Championship tickets. They won't be announcing anything until after the Wisconsin game. Makes me nervous we won't have a chance to buy direct and will be forced to go seconday. Freaking OSU fans will drive prices thru the rarely-open LOS roof! Sulky

I've been monitoring the secondary tickets.  The prices aren't bad, and will probably keep dropping as other teams fans discover they aren't making it.

Wow, you and I have different definitions of what is and isn't a 'bad' price! LoL Cheapest 200-level tickets on Stubhub which are lower bowl still, are pushing $500 a pop! I know last year the ticket prices crashed because Oregon and Penn State aren't very easy to travel to Indy from, but these prices seem VERY high and are likely poised to keep increasing.

I bought 4 tix last week from Ticketmaster.  The only ones for sale at that time, IIRC, were in the upper bowl, which works fine for me, I love high EZ seats so I can see the whole play.

Mrs TMFT told me last night that she had heard prices had started getting ridiculous so I checked & Ticketmaster was sold out.  Our $200 seats were going for $400 on SeatGeek.

If we make the championship game, I think this will be at best a 50/50 crowd, but probably 60/40 OSU, maybe even 65/35 OSU.

I don't wish this was the case, but the OSU FB fanbase is like 10x+ bigger than ours and they're a short drive away.  After Tennessee, no one travels better than OSU.  And IU fans are still new to this whole going to big football games thing.  Honestly I thought our turnout at ND last year was a little lighter than I would hoped.

Not trying to be negative.  Just a prediction.

Has IU sent any info to season ticket holders yet? I have a season ticket but it is not in my name.

35/65 is way too extreme. Both schools will be well represented. IU fans are excited. And there’s a difference between buying for neutral sites and pure road games.

@packtherock This will be "been there, done that" territory for OSU, while it will be a first for IU. Moreover, only an hour from campus. I suspect the crowd will be fairly even.

With the Indiana population literally surrounding Lucas Oil Stadium, IU fans will be able to justify spending a lot more on a ticket than an Ohio fan when they can fold in their hotel or dining out costs into their ticket.  I would expect a significantly pro-IU crowd.

And from a practical perspective, we're almost a lock to make the championship game, especially if we come out of Penn St. 10-0.  Obviously, if we win out, we're in.  But even if we have 1 loss, we've got tie breakers over Oregon & Iowa.  They also play each other still, so one of them will have 2 losses.  They also both play USC, so either USC will have at least two losses, or Oregon/Iowa will have at least two.  Michigan is the other 1 loss team and they end with Ohio State.  So they'll either have two losses or they and Ohio St. will have 1 each.

I don't know how all the tie breakers would go if IU, Ohio St., Michigan, and USC all have 1 loss, but I do know that Michigan & USC would have to have a lot of things break right for them to end up with 1 loss only.

Probably the single best outcome would be for IU to win out and punch their ticket and Ohio State to lose to Michigan (along with Oregon/Iowa/USC all picking up a 2nd loss) and it ends up being IU vs. Michigan in the championship game.  All the pre-bought OSU tickets would flood the secondary market that IU fans could snipe.

@tmft Best-case scenario is 12-0 OSU vs. 12-0 IU. Period. Sure, Michigan might be an easier matchup than OSU, but give the people what they want: #1 vs. #2.

I mean best for getting the biggest IU crowd possible.  Agree that the biggest game is IU vs. OSU

@tmft In tiebreakers, it would be us vs Michigan if any combo of OSU/UM/IU/Oregon/Iowa were all 1 loss

Obviously, 12-0 is easiest path. But having the tiebreakers over Oregon and Iowa are very helpful. We would get in over OSU because be we have the better conference slate this year (their best B1G wins would be Illinois, Washington and Minnesota, ours would be Illinois, Iowa, Oregon)

I could be wrong, but isn't one of the tiebreakers head-to-head vs common opponents?  So, if we would happen to lose to PSU and they beat them then they would have that tiebreaker?  I've looked at the tiebreaker rules before and they're not particularly clear to this simple country lawyer, so like I said, I could be way off.

Cig & the boys should just go the easy route and win 'em all.
