In a couple articles I read the writer states Joe has 1 remaining year of eligibility. He transferred from a JUCO program prior to playing 2 years at Tulsa. Why wouldn't Hjelle have 2 remaining years of eligibility? Seems like his situation is similar to Pavias' in which the Heisman runner-up played 4 years of Division 1 ball after 2 years in the JUCO ranks.
If he wanted the extra year he could probably get it, but he’d probably still have to petition the NCAA for the extra year of eligibility which may be why they aren’t assuming it. From what I can tell he has only played 2 years at the D1 level. So, he definitely would fit into the Pavia/Louis Moore situation.
