@kelly_32 How old are you? did you buy season tickets for 30 years, each year a bust? I am nearly 88, have season tickets for many years, travel 3 1/2 hours each way to the games and to have some young sprout tell me how to behave at a game is disgusting. I stand but I do not condemn those who don't or can't. It is there team and university too.

54. I’ll stand for a three hour concert or a three hour football game. Doesn’t bother me a bit.

I just provided the solution.  Section 3, rows 0-30 would be the sitting section.  Or how about they can have front row or 2 around the stadium, sans student section.  Or put them in the first 30 rows in front of the visitors section.  Most visitors fans don't stand anyway after we lead by 20.

That's not a workable solution. Come on.

at almost any event be it a parade, The Walk, concert or sporting event. I am not sure there is a reasonable or economic solution for it or what I am getting ready to say. I sit up at row 56 in the the middle. There are way too many people who should not be going up those steps. I am certain they are people who deserve to be in the stadium because they deserve to see this turnaround after years. They may the same group who can't stand.  This also probably is not a fixable problem but something comparable needs to be addressed there. I am surprised there isn't an ambulance event every game just in my section alone.

I think its simple: you are on your feet every defensive snap, and sitting on every offensive snap. Allowed to stand for big moments on offense. A hole behavior to stand for every (or even most) offensive plays.

Rowdy fans make a huge difference. The only thing I will concede to the SEC, is that their road schedule is harder than in the B1G - because even the stadiums for the bad teams are rocking on a weekly basis

Something else that’s not a good idea. I was at the Michigan state game and halfway through the second quarter. A golf cart pulls all the way out in the upper stadium and a very senior(I’d guess 90ish) woman gets out. It took 5 guys to get her to her seat. She nearly fell twice. It totally clogged up the exit. All this and they then announced the storm safety alert. We couldn’t get out of the bowl of the stadium. They held everyone up. This was in section 106.

You're missing the forest through the trees, folks: Fans are actually standing at IU football games. A rarity for 100 years has become standard under Cig.

I would rather have limited view at times watching this team than have a perfect sightline for a 3-9 team. Perspective.

From a different perspective, I am a former season ticket holder, 78 years old, with CAD, that is coronary artery disease for you young pups, and 8 stents.  I have had to "suffer the indignity of having to stand up when someone stood up in front of me" and had to stand also.  I just figured it part of my cardiac workout to keep on trucking.  It is part of the experience.  and I don't care if you stand on my lawn.  DWS, I hope I do not have to explain this.  Smile 11-0 to me is all that matters, standing or sitting.

@hurryinghoosiers there’s definitely a difference between standing the entire game and standing for a big third down.

True,  that fan was next level bad,  especially given his use of foul language the entire game. My kid now says no to going to games and hard to blame him.

It would still be annoying for kids and old people to miss key 3rd downs and big plays.  that said,  i generally stand then due to the person in front of me standing since i don't want to miss the play

I'm torn on this.

My friend who came to the game with me this weekend since Jr. was out of town is a Notre Dame guy.  He said when he started going to ND games years ago that there would be complaints about people standing and ushers would actually get involved.  At some point in the last few years they've changed it around & specifically asked fans to stand the whole game.

As a dad who has brought a young child to games, I can appreciate how people standing hurts the viewing experience for people who aren't tall or aren't able to stand for long periods of time.  I can empathize with that.  But the fan in me thinks it's better to have a hot stadium with people standing the whole time for the game effect.

A "sitters" only section could accommodate those, so I'm not opposed to that I guess.  Just got to have everyone on board.  Do we still have the candy stripe section for kids?  I'm okay with a family-oriented/family-friendly section.

Other than those two concessions, I'd say caveat emptor.  It's a football game, you're going to have the risk of people standing & coarse language.

65 year old IU grad/fan here.  Two-time cancer survivor and my hips begin giving out once I stand/sit multiple times.  Still, I've flown up (from FL) for several games this year and stood most of the games.  Once my pain level was at a point I had to sit . . . no problem, I simply looked up at that beautiful large screen to watch the play and more often than not had the opportunity to shout with everyone else once IU made the big play.  I've suffered through many long football seasons at IU and I will never complain about IU fans standing (even through the entire game) for an IU football team the likes of which we have not seen in our lifetimes.  I could stay home and watch it on tv but I'd much rather be there to experience the tailgating and atmosphere; despite needing to sit from time to time.  HOOSIER FANS ARE THE BEST . . . stand and cheer on those Hoosiers and occasionally look around and you will see many of us Ole Timers sitting but waving our towels and shouting just the same.  Go IU !!!

True but I only mention it about the rude fan because he was dropping f bombs constantly.

I don't expect everyone to stay seated for an entire game but would prefer not to be standing the entire game either.  I can be loud and obnoxious from either position.

Oh yeah, I hate it that it made an undesirable viewing experience for you & your kid.  That's the exact opposite of what the school should be trying to do, i.e., hook em young.  I'm just not sure how to fix it.

@tmft I kind of started the argument because of a text condemning people for not standing. It seemed nothing short of cutting off ticket sales to the elderly. As I stated before I am nearly 88 but stand and happy to do so. My tickets are in section 6, row 27, seat 11. If you know the stadium these are prime tickets and do not come cheep, showing many years of giving. These are all reasons for limiting suggestions for those who sit. I probably stand more than half the game because from the age of about 8 I have been a fan.

I want others to feel free to stand because we now have something to stand for. But let's watch how we can be indifferent to people because of age. Most do not have my good health.

By the way, I park on the street and usually walk nearly a mile each way to attend the game. Hi

@lbw you’re correct and an absolute great fan. People need to be treated with respect.
I have gone to many games in many venues, if there is a child or someone who cannot stand the whole game I will sit as much as possible. I’ll still jump up at a big play but, I’ll try as much as I can to make sure the person behind me can see.

i have seen a lot of comments today about basketball fans just being disrespectful both ways.

As far as a sitting section, you can’t ask people who pay a premium for great seats to give them up and that’s the hang up.
