It is time IU asks people if the can or cannot stand when tickets are applied for. Find a whole section for them to sit, and quit bitching about people standing. Heard dozens of geris yelling at people to sit down. I get it. They want to see. But it's 3rd and 1 and fans are riled up. Time for a sitting section.
These are the people who IU seems to cater too as well. It’s a football game people are allowed to stand and cheer.
I don’t know the solution, but you’re not the first to complain about it.
If you don’t want to stand, stay home and sit on your couch.
I went to a colts game last year with my kid.. A guy in front of him stood up almost every play. We paid over $100 for my 8 yr old to go and even standing up he never got to see the game due to the jackass in front of him
Maybe we need a kids section instead of a seniors section. High chairs.
I went to a Chicago Blackhawks game with my Dad mid-70s. I was 11, and small. Didnt see shit, I looked between the men and got some glimpses of hockey.
I didnt expect them to change for me.
Just be taller. Case closed.
I just provided the solution. Section 3, rows 0-30 would be the sitting section. Or how about they can have front row or 2 around the stadium, sans student section. Or put them in the first 30 rows in front of the visitors section. Most visitors fans don't stand anyway after we lead by 20.
@hurryinghoosiers there’s definitely a difference between standing the entire game and standing for a big third down.
@kelly_32 How old are you? did you buy season tickets for 30 years, each year a bust? I am nearly 88, have season tickets for many years, travel 3 1/2 hours each way to the games and to have some young sprout tell me how to behave at a game is disgusting. I stand but I do not condemn those who don't or can't. It is there team and university too.
I changed my post here. I think with some give and take everyone can get along.
It’s pretty easy to sit on offense (of course stand a cheer for good plays). This is a concession to the sitting crowd.
But on defense, it’s tough to make a case people shouldn’t be standing and cheering. This is the primary way the fans can impact the game and this is what the team would want.
There is a give and take. And for big games or big moments people will stand a lot and it just is what it is.

I'd be surprised if anyone complained about people standing and cheering for a 3rd and 1 play. But when you get stuck behind someone who stands for the entire fucking game it's too much. If I wanted that I'd get tickets in the student section.
Disclaimer: I can no longer manage everything involved in attending games, so my experience is from the old times when we sucked. Maybe things have changed.
@tammany I agree we stand and cheer for big moments. But I stand for other times too. But to condemn some for being old is not good manners. You will hopefully get there some day and then look back on how you have treated others, through no fault of their own still want to come to the games but are physically challenged. I have been yelled at for standing but that is a problem for them, not for me.
@lbw you roll however you want my guy. Are you going to make it to Purdue? Lots of folks will be sitting there!

I’m not supporting condemning older folks attending the game, or people who can’t stand as much for whatever reason. Personally, I find it easy to tell if you’ve got people behind you who can’t stand as much or are maybe just short (like kids). In those cases I try to sit more so they can see.
I’ve got less sympathy for people who can but just obviously don’t want to stand, but I find that to be pretty rare.
Seems simple enough. If people are yelling at you to sit down. Sit down when you can.
If its time to stand and cheer, tell them to piss off.
Decorum.
