I was up for about 22 hours yesterday and I’m operating on about 4 hours sleep now because we’ll be babysitting the neighbors’ kids in a couple hours so the parents can have a little anniversary brunch…..so bear with me if I’m a little punchy. But here goes.
- the stadium atmosphere was freaking amazing. You could hardly hear the band during the pregame music (anthem, Back home again in Indiana, etc)
- red out looked really good
- Isaiah Jones was on fire early. Just so dang happy for that kid
- other than the one busted coverage, the secondary was great. We had a hard time getting to Altmeyer early and he had forever back there, but no one to throw to
- obviously, they rectified the pressure situation over the course of the night
- I love our running backs and how hard they run
- IU went all in with the presentation last night and it’s going to pay off
- the crowd stayed loud. For a LONG time. Well after the game was decided
- damn near nobody left at half of a blowout game. Only a small number left when the rain came. It was great
- Mr Brightside between the 3rd & 4th. And featuring the camera on Mike Katic being himself (taking off his shirt and pounding beers). Got a HUGE reaction
- Junior is very disappointed that we didn’t rush the field after a major top 10 win. Maybe next time
- between a nice parlay & a couple individual bets that hit, I was $550 up yesterday. It was a good day
I’m even more excited to head to Iowa Thursday night than I already was.
Excellent… thanks for sharing. I can’t get to Bloomington this year (for good reasons, not bad) so your summary helps me understand just how fun it must have been.

I liked this one even more than Nebraska — top-10 opponent and I don’t like Bret. But I wouldn’t argue if someone liked Nebraska more.
Amazing atmosphere to be at. The thing about it is the score wasn’t really reflective of how dominant this game was. The majority of the Illinois offense came on one play with a busted coverage. That was a total beat down and we could have scored more. How many times do you see a team go to their bench by the 4th quarter against a top 10 ranked team.
@bbh42 yeah, we were joking after the ISU game, and this one as well. The game wasn't as close as the score indicated. 😂 😂 😂
Feel bad for Illinois in one way, Bielema didnt make excuses but Cig himself noted they were down on defensive backs, plus the good LB tossed. And per Bielema they were down 7 DBs ... ! Can that be right? He said they lost 6 during the game.
Must have some who were dinged coming in and maybe pulled for precautionary, but he said they brought three safeties and all three were out so they had to put other guys there.
I hope we keep giving Derek Owings raises. We have had some injuries but our guys seem explosive and sturdy both.
