I know it's "just a game" but I've waited my entire adult life for a season like this, and I'll be effing inconsolable if it ends Thursday. As a fan of a team (and that includes IU hoops and a few pro teams), I've never wanted to win a game so badly. The fact that the opponent is an SEC team raises the stakes, in my opinion. I am so sick of the "SEC is the best" bullshit, with the "gauntlet" that all their teams face every season. We need a statement win IN THE ROSE BOWL on 1/1.
I want to enjoy the game without nerves getting in the way. Any suggestions, other than alcohol or drugs?
IMO this is the biggest IU game since the '02 championship game, and before that the '87 championship game. CBB Final Four semis aren't this big.
We've come a long way and have a chance to win some absolutely enormous games and do some amazing things. There are so many side storylines too -- BIG vs. SEC like you said, new IUFB and Cig's story, the pressure on DeBoer, and the Heisman being in this game.
~25M will be tuned in.
The upside is huge, the downside is big. My heart will be pounding for three hours and tbh I'll probably struggle to enjoy it lol. But, I can't help but get worked up over IU sports.
Edit: One more thought:
I think the '02 Final felt like more upside without much downside. The whole thing was a surprise run. We weren't supposed to win. It felt like playing with house money.
This IUFB program and team is not that. It's legit and not a one-year thing. It's an incredible group of coaches and players. And these coaches have all decided to stay at IU despite being offered "traditional" powerhouse jobs. As a result, I feel more connection to this program.
I am very excited not only for the game, but for the trip out there. It is just me and my wife going (kid is being dropped off with his aunt for a couple days), so I am looking forward to just the travel and wearing our gear on the plane.
I am ready to be at the hotel and chatting it up with fans and fellow media members.
If I wasn't so busy with getting content out I would be going crazy with anticipation.

Feeling good. Bama has a ton of talent but we're better and should win. No guarantees though. I think ESPNs 70/30 predictor is probably accurate.
I am supremely confident that IU walks all over this game. Every game this year has been a statement game along our retribution tour across the NCAA. We were able to revenge 1 of our 2 losses since 2023 (OSU) and won't get to revenge the ND loss, but this is a game to quiet all the Bama loudmouths (ala Herbstreit). Last year I was nervous because we were still trying to understand who was returning this season and it felt like another trip to the CFP was going to be highly unlikely. Therefore, it was our one chance.
This year, it doesn't feel that way. We have a veteran team going against a bunch of talented but younger players. No one is hungrier for the win more than the other, but IU has room for mistakes. Bama knows they have no room for mistakes.
