I made a quick google search and didn’t find my answer. Perhaps a little too much tailgating yesterday.
Help a brotha out.

What are you talking about? Future schedules maybe?
Thank you
@kelly_32 we only have 4 home conference games this year so we will have 5 next year.
We played at OSU last year so I think that game will be a home game giving us 5 for next year.
I think this is all going to change soon, but we'll see. Just a gut feeling when the Playoff format deadline comes due Dec. 1
@thehoosierhuddle Can you explain what that could mean? TIA
@eppy99 The College Football Playoff has a Dec. 1 deadline to announce a new format for the 2026 season. We have seen the SEC and ACC move to 9 conference games with 1 required P4 opponent in the non-conference.
The Big Ten will do whatever the CFP dictates gets the most teams in for them, which may mean changing how their teams schedule.
The EASIEST thing for the Big Ten to do is move to 10 conference games. It would balance the schedules a little better. We'll see what happens, but I believe changes are coming sooner rather than later.
I would totally be in favor of moving to 10 games. I believe all the Big 10 games are sold out or nearly.
I did not enjoy the game day experience with all the empty seats. If this was run like a business (which it should) you should want to fill the seats every damn time. ODU was semi competitive. We left at halftime of the ISU game. It was an evening game and a joke from a competitive standpoint.
@eppy99 Agree. FWIW I think IU mispriced some of the cupcakes games (I know ODU was a good team, just not a big name). $62 per ticket was way too much. Sell em for $20 and that stadium is probably mostly full.
I’d like some better non-cons, but I also get that we still a portal heavy team that needs time to gel and the cupcakes let us do that without much risk of losing. As the program matures I hope we can schedule a P4 noncon or the conference may do it for us with 10 conf games…

Thats interesting. I never really considered that (10 game conference schedule) an option. Just didn’t cross my mind.
I figured they’d go to the one P4 game like the others.
While it would miss out on the cross-conference games, which can be hit and miss, it greatly improves inter-conference scheduling opportunities and would insure a balanced home and away conference schedule at five each.
(It would also limit/maximize a home schedule at seven, but it rarely hits eight, I think.)
