Great news because I believe CCC will not only steal Rhule's lunch money every time IU plays the Huskers, but he'll also de-pants Rhule in front of the crowd while he's doing it!..

Obviously, I have not been impressed with Rhule.  I'm surprised by Nebraska's move.  Actually I was kinda hoping PSU would get him just so they'd continue their downward trend.

I haven’t read the details of his contract, but I heard he is now ahead of Cig. If that’s true that’s crazy because Rhule hasn’t come close to Cignetti’s success. I think he is very comparable to Locksley. Very good recruiter. Seems to be an excellent motivator as well, but ability to scheme and make adjustments is not elite IMO. I think Nebraska will remain in the middle tier of the B1G.

Cig is going to embarrass that little nerd again.

Looks pretty much the same as Cigs. Bit more maybe. 11.7/yr . Not sure if Cigs 11.3 includes the retention bonus or not. Similar 15 million buyout if he leaves.

Cigs top three clause will move him past him after next year Im guessing.

LOL And F-baum thought (pretended to...) our Cig deal was a bad one!

@openwheel Finnebaum is already back on the circuit saying if we played a SEC schedule we would have 2 losses by now

I cant wait for his melt when we annihilate whatever bum SEC team we play this year in the playoffs. Their conference is just not good this year. They have gotten worse by the year for several years now with a couple exceptions, Kirby's super team was barely afloat last year and is long gone at this point

Not sure how good Rhule is but I think it’s smart in as much as I think a lot of these programs are firing their way into mediocrity.   Nebraska has been down that road and a lot of teams are going to find out there are a lot worse things than going 10-2.

Interesting move by Nebraska but probably also realizing that if he left, they don't have a lot of great options when you have LSU, Florida, and PSU looking for coaches.  If some of these other jobs weren't open, I wonder if they would have extended him at this time.

I think Rhule's not too bad. It's about who can get the recruits there, and make their boosters feel like donating. I often see online that their fans are optimistic about the progress. (Even as some in the same threads rip some game decisions, lol.) So may as well keep him.

@hoosierdaddy Finebaum gets on his knees for the SEC, and I don't mean to pray.

@openwheel ... As I implied in my original post, Rhule isn't a coach who can bring the Huskers back to the promised land... He's average at best..... Last night's loss at home to USC, even with a "black out" to hype the players and fans and the new show of confidence the school displayed this week with the contract extension, still couldn't change the fact that he's not-that-good.  He needed that win just to show they did the right thing...  The talent  was evenly matched, he was just out-coached....   Just watch, one year from now the UN fans will be screaming for his head.... Huge buy-out or not.  His extension was a knee-jerk reaction to all the other coaching changes that happened last week.... Knee-jerk reactions have no place in running a business.

In fairness to Rhule I think they were in pretty good shape last night (up 14-6) and then Raiola got hurt.

He's not great and he is overpaid right now, but he is decent and a program builder.  So, I'm not sure if Nebraska made the right move or not, these are just some random thoughts.
