Here's one of my takeaways: My kids suck. But telling two girls to "be more like Fernando" probably wouldn't resonate.
Of course Fernando's mom is named Elsa; he has ice water in his veins, after all.https://twitter.com/PlayersTribune/status/1999116993639624748?s=20
What a powerful letter.
Alright, who's cutting onions?! Thanks for sharing
Wow, what a journey for Fernando and his Mom. What inspiration. That letter brought tears to my eyes, and I feel better for having read it. Thanks Sammy for posting it.
I showed my wife the post game video of him and his mother. My wife instantly started crying. That video he’s hugging his mom when his dad wanted a hug but Fernando did the side hug thing then right back to mom. He’s a mommas boy(good thing) who has watched his mother suffer. Much like my son had to watch his mom suffer with a big smile on her face. What a great family. Lucky having them represent.
My father passed away from cancer when I was 18. He's the reason I love football and the reason I chose IU. So anytime there is a story like this it makes me emotional. I am glad they shared this letter and happy to share it with you all.
Nice letter. I was downtown doing a little shopping today and stopped by Baffalouie’s and had a Mendoza burger. Very tasty. I would recommend you try one if you get the chance.
I foresee an Espy from this story! What an amazing family! Glad we as fans get to enjoy this year’s epic ride along with them! The only thing that kinda ticks me off is Fernandos love for Tom effn Brady! He should have a better football idol than that cheater!
@walt542 Unless they closed it last night, it's still open (and doing well I believe). Yes, they have the Mendoza burger there as well. This article was a tough one to get through on a lot of levels, but damn glad I did!
That’s great. I wonder why all the website links to that location are broken?@walt542 Unless they closed it last night, it's still open (and doing well I believe). Yes, they have the Mendoza burger there as well. This article was a tough one to get through on a lot of levels, but damn glad I did!
It's easy to see how the Mendoza brothers developed such strong character. Impressive. Go Hoosiers!
