Didn’t Owings & Heupel cross paths (though briefly) at UCF? Like @d-b-cooper said, this is less about money vs. pursuit of another opportunity.
Yes. I believe Owings is from the south. So, maybe he's not liking the warm sunny weather we're having this winter.

@evillehoosier8 whitmer leaving was a given IMO. We got him from the NFL, he just coached the Heisman. The logical step is for whatever team (likely raiders) drafts Mendoza to hire him as QB coach for continuity

Sucks. I have no insider knowledge but seems like Cig felt he brought good knowledge to the QB coaching position and was pleased with him. After early saying he had to train him in what he needs and expects, Cig later mentioned good ideas and how well he prepped Mendoza.
I wonder if Tino is as good? Also helps to have a pro connection for recruiting I think. But Tino back might be cool.
I hope Cig doesn't get too much advice from the basketball staff, to replace Owings. We don't seem all that conditioned or explosive.

That rumor makes no sense. Raiders haven’t even hired a head coach. I think that is fake news. People were speculating Raiders hiring Cig for the same reason. Cig already said he has no interest in the nfl. I doubt we are losing Whitmer and even if we are Tino was still unemployed the last time I checked. I’m far less worried about that spot.

@iugradman usually how it works. This isn’t as big of a deal as you think it is. Tennessee is desperate. They are overpaying and they just hired Knowles. This still doesn’t fix the fact heupal on the hot seat. It’s closer to us going all in on Woodson last year. Rumor going around Whitmer is off to the Raiders.
There's been rumors of another coach leaving for a while for a DC position with another Big 10 school.
No idea where it stands, but it's been floated out there as a possibility.
I mean, I was also worried when our QB coach left last yr. We have the best coach in the country running our program. He'll have a plan.
