Wow.

This made me smile, did Scott write this in? : The buyout is reduced by 50 percent if either Pamela Whitten or Scott Dolson is no longer serving in their current position at the time of resignation.

But we promise to keep him in the top three in pay, or the buyout goes away? And staff in the top 5 in the B1G and top 10 nationally.

Holy cow, Coach will be very well paid, forever. And it's a great gig to coach for Cig!

Always surprised that there appears to be no performance clause in these contracts. Seems like there should be adjustments if he doesn't finish above 500 for 2 consecutive seasons, let's say.

@kkott

But then it isn't fully guaranteed. And fully guaranteed seems to be the thing. That's why schools get burned with they fire James Franklin, Jimbo Fisher, etc.

I like our chances to not get burned.  Grin

Yea, but when you’ve got something really good on your hands with any replacement being almost certainly far worse, you’ve got to go for it.

That seams odd.  Fired Dolson and then convince him to resign if we aren't liking the contract.

The part that makes me nervous is that this contract is fully guaranteed.  Maybe that's all the bad contracts I've seen Auburn sign.  I'm fully confident that he will continue to have the same success that he's been having but we've seen worse in Football.  Let's hope memorial stadium stays packed.

..

I don't know what you mean by that?  It doesn't reduce our buyout of owing the remaining. We would prefer to keep Dolson if we want to try to convince Cig to resign, because then Cig/new school, has to pay the full amount. But anyway, if Coach performed so badly we wanted him gone, he'd hold us to the entire contract not pay IU to go away.

It makes sense to me as a clause. If he no longer enjoys who he is working for, he can leave by paying a lower amount.

@auburnhoosier  - Bobby Knight wishes he had that stipulation in his contract.  Cig is big about having buy-in from the administration.  He has no guarantees that Whitten and Dolson won't both be here 4 years from now.  If the new Prez wants to pull funding and change the path Cig was on then he won't see this program in the same light and wants an easier out.  I don't blame him.

Nah.  Cig has praised these two from day 1 and working with them is important to him.  If we had a McRobbie type as President or some bad AD, this whole thing won’t work.

@hurryinghoosiers you are crazy if you don't think that was Cig wanting that in the contract.  He's done nothing but praise Whitten and Dolson so why wouldn't he want to hitch the two, who have done nothing but support him like a major university should.

Whitten is trash and isn't the only option for a president that would support football.

Cigs could have wanted it but we have no idea who made that dumb addition to the contract.  But obviously Pam and Scott have every incentive to want that in Cig's contract as well.

That doesn’t make sense.

We don’t need the Water Cooler emotional bias and anger over here.

My posts make complete sense and I doubt we will ever know who pushed for those dumb additions to the contract, which is relevant to the thread about Cig's contract.
