Tough.

The staff will adapt though.  Do they move Kamara back and let Ndukwe take over his spot?  Does Landino move more outside?

There's options.  It's tough to lose someone so productive, but I've got faith Cig and Haines will get it figured out.

I think it will have to be a combination of all of the above. No matter how you slice it, those three guys are going to be doing even more than they already are.

Yeah, I rewatched the game again tonight. First, Daley was constantly in AN OSU backfield. IU is going to miss him certainly. Second Landino looks like he would be my choice to fill that spot. The problem is who spells them? Toward the end of the game Daley honestly looked gassed. He put it all on the field!

iu has lost two legit nfl type talents now at de...wyatt's loss wasn't really felt because daley absorbed a bunch of his snaps and the play not only didn't drop off, it elevated.

i think we'll see landino slide outside more with kamara going back to his old position. that means more wheeler and ratcliff inside. i also think that means we see more ndukwe and possible andrew depaepe who had been running with the 2's on the strong side in all garbage time.

one note on kamara since i wrote about him in like 5 articles saying i wasn't worried about him...i'm still not worried.

kamara has been very good this year and i'm not sure the position change mattered much.

kamara led the big ten in pressures this season (47 -- tied for 15th nationally) even without the one he added to his total against osu in their 13th game. he did that in just 511 defensive snaps (9% pressure rate).

in '24, he led the nation with 68 pressures in 671 snaps (10% pressure rate) in the same amount of games he's played so far this year (13). for context, he had two more pressures than top 5 pick, and the second leading pressure guy, abdul carter in 3 less games (and 63 less snaps).

i would argue (and have been) that not much has really changed other than finishing off sacks or tfl's, as you mentioned, but he's also not playing near the amount of snaps he did last season. some of that has to do with game flow, but he's also clearly been battling a shoulder injury.

kamara has been just as good this season as he was last year without the flashy counting stats to back it up...if he falls in the draft because of the drop in counting stats, someone is going to get a steal.

Maybe one of these guys will prove to be the next IU star at DE, who knows?

we just need to be better about recruiting players that can give high fives without getting injured 🙁

Pressures arent as good as TFLs or sacks, not even close. Of course they matter a lot, but the actual numbers? It would be like asking a linebacker how many tackles he made that game. "Four. But I got near the runner on over fifteen carries!" .
