For those who like Cig interviews.
He talks in well-worn coach-speak phrases. I’d really like to hear him in “real life” situations. But I do like some of his points in this. The Illinois comments were funny.
"Vagas has us at 8.5 wins, I guess that answers the question" Coach Cignetti. Love that guy!
BEAT PURDUE
Mr. Positive.
Answers on the Illinois/Bert were great.
Yes, I always like Cignetti interviews. A lot of repetitive coach speak but usually a few good new nugget in there like the ILL game question.

He has so many quick wit responses. It's hard to argue against anything he says. He's always so locked into the conversation and never feels out of control or in over his ski's. He relies on his past experiences to improve so although we wish we had a younger version of Cig, I think we got the perfect version.
Vintage Cignetti. Reveal no weakness and display hints of stubbornness. He absolutely projects lock step with process.
Alberto telling Coach Cig he'd play behind big brother for just one year, or transfer... I expect he won't ever win the job. Even though Cig said nice things.
Coach will never stop recruiting at QB.
I do hope some home grown talent wins it sooner rather than later, or it'll get harder to recruit freshman QBs after awhile.
Hope Alberto wins the backup job, but I just want who's best really.
I didn't see anything all that interesting or humorous in the Illinois game comments? Did posters above just mean where he said he didn't know because he hadn't played Bielema yet?
It's never funny when you explain it, but I'll do it.
It's a funny little quip back that he doesn't know what it's like to play Bret because he's never played him. He doesn't offer up the usual coach praise that Bret is a very good coach blah blah blah.
And then when asked what he expects when playing Bret, rather than talk about Bret/Illinois, he directs it to what he expects from IU. Classic Cig mindset, while personally I really like.
Yeah, I guess I did get a wry smile about it when I first listened for the same reason. Thx.
