According to Steve Wiltfong, Cash Herrera has de-committed from IU. Working to get details
That's a bit of a head scratcher. Why wouldn't you want to go to the new QB U? Do we have another potential flip or under the radar QB coming down the pipeline?
@812jmac At this time it seems that IU will not get a QB in the 2026.
@thehoosierhuddle wow. That’s crazy. The only thing that makes sense here to me is that IU is in on another QB prospect and he was encouraged to decommit, but that’s just wishful thinking on my part. However, I have no concern about a hs qb de commitment. He wasn’t playing next year anyways. That’s an easy spot for us to fix in the portal whenever we may need it.
@olympian97 To me it means they think Cherry can be on the field next year. So a portal QB will 100% happen because yu need more than 3 scholarship QBs, but I think the plan at QB is becoming clearer.
He's got non-P4 schools after him.
This reeks of us looking elsewhere, but that's just a guess at this point.
@boogie Yeah, the feeling here is they were OK letting him walk. But have not heard that they will Pursue another HS QB
Purcell is reclassifying to 2026 lol
Maybe he just realized his chances of playing were slim.
@auburnhoosier - I'll never understand that logic from a player. From a fan, yes, because we make assumptions that often are correct. But if a kid is going to a D1 school, let alone a power 2 conf school...they must think or at least hope, they're NFL caliber. IU will have a 3rd year QB and then...........nothing that would scare someone away. Yes, Cherry could be legit but as far as established QBs, Herrera hit the jackpot. My guess is this was a mutual decision.
Maybe he just realized his chances of playing were slim.
The only way he would play is if he beat out Purcell. That doesnt even factor in chances Cig likes a vet QB in the portal
His de-commit has me so... so... so... so what.
Cig will not have a problem filling whatever hole he feels he has in the QB room... It was probably something he encourage and I'm sure he's going to fill it with a better prospect,
"In Cig We Trust"
Cignetti will turn this opportunity into a talent increase at QB.
Goobye
So Cig admitting he missed on a prospect, and instead wants someone better?
That is OK with me. Hopefully it is mutual and Cash has someone lined up that he really wants.
