Nebraska fans on X are having a hard time with IU being legit good. Some wild speculation and comments.

I hear lots of people say that Mrs. Cig loves Bton and is not going anywhere. I'm not disputing that, but haven't seen it documented other than Cig making offhand comments that she likes it here. Anyone have anything definitive from her?

@seyton Punting on a late fourth and short sealed the game, but the final score is the final score 27-17.

I expected to Cig to be more of a modern analytics go for it on 4th down guy then he is. He just doesnt do it much. I find that very unusual.

But that ND game is the only one that made me mad. Yeah, we would have been backed up but it was embarrassing not to go for it. I still had slim hopes IU could pull it out, until then.

He gave his reasons post game, which wouldnt have been weak sauce if it had been a more normal sitch (even just to keep it close to help make the playoffs...) but they were in this case.

@yothn Yeah, but that game was really 27-3.  I was actually really disappointed in the staff for that game - they never even tried to attack until it was too late.

That is ridiculous.  Ok so we can remove scores.  Obviously that 98yd TD was fluke so we have to remove that.  The INT on the goal line after IU drove it down their throats, lets remove that INT, throw up a TD for us.   Is that what we do now?  The end of the game is equally as important as the beginning.

I was bummed we didn’t play well in the ND game, I thought we could have been better for sure.  But I don’t really get being mad/embarrassed.  It was incredible we were even in that game.

The staff inherited a broken program and had one (1) portal period with $4.5M NIL for a roster.  We were on the road vs. an established program with $13-14M+ NIL for their roster.  Only so much is possible from this staff given what they had to work with.  Same goes for that game at OSU, only that was us vs. a $20M+ roster that had been built from top-3 recruiting classes over several years.

People often don’t factor in how little time and $ the staff had vs. the two teams we lost to last year.  Only so much is possible from our roster.  And don’t get me wrong, ND and OSU beat us fair and square, they built up their programs over several years to be very good/great teams.

So in the Iowa game we're supposed to analyze the entire history of IU football to decide whether a strategy call is the right move?    Grin

Mark Cuban retweeted an IU fan saying Cignetti is not leaving the program

Its comical how articles keep coming out on how UCLA, V Tech, Florida etc are going to get him. With what money? All of those ADs are in the crapper.

Florida has some more resources, but after a $64M buyout I’d guess that’s negated.

Also, Florida is a midsize athletic dept in SEC… not an easy job and not necessarily an appealing job.  They’re in a tough spot.
