The local media treats Purdue with kid gloves. IU gets shit on constantly despite having multiple championship programs.
Barry Odom talked a lot of shit before last season about IU. Cignetti sure shut his ass up.
@hoosierdaddy I don't see Odom on the hot seat at all going into year 2.
If they go 1-11, he might be gone. And I'm not so sure that they won't. Probably won't, but could.
Especially if we beat them by 50+ again........
That Wake Forest game at home in week 2 could be pretty important for Odom. And having another team so dependent on transfers would concern me going into that game (so early in the season).
@jackskip23 I don’t think ferentz is on a hot seat at all. Iowa fans I know were really pleased with their team this season - they think it was Ferentz’ best in a long time. They wished a few games went the other way but they know they had a good team
USC just had the #1 recruiting class, combined with Riley’s buyout and he is safe short of winning less than 7 games IMO. The year after that is when its playoffs or bust
Agree that Ferentz isn’t on the hot seat but Iowa fans are definitely ready to move on from him soon. They’ve had two coaches in 45 years and, while they’ve generally been very competitive most years, they want more.
SC is full of money and expectations and Riley hasn’t met what they’ve paid for what they expected, but he’s probably safe for another year. As for recruiting, they’ve routinely finished high in the rankings but failed to meet that on the field, which has only added to their frustrations at Troy. For them, a seven or eight win season might push them to make a move.
they want more
Campbell leaving ISU was a big help for Iowa, but their ceiling will always be lower than a title. Iowa is a small state (half size of Indiana), and they dont produce a lot of local talent. They only had 13 players in the state get rated in the last cycle (Indiana had 57). Throw in a middle tier NIL backing and its always going to be a team that relies heavily on development. Ferentz has been arguably the best in the business at developing non-blue chip players over his career
Once he retires, Phil Parker is likely not long behind him, and I think Iowa is very likely to slip into the bottom half of the B1G

Parker, O’Keefe and Doyle were three key guys there, and two have been gone for several years. They have one of the most loyal fan followings in the Big Ten and top flight facilities, so I wouldn’t be so quick to write them off once Captain Kirk hangs it up. Many said the same thing after Hayden retired. As for recruiting, they’ve been a powerhouse in the Chicago area for decades. There’s a ton of competition for players there, but they won’t vanish from the area.
As a HC Locksley is an abysmal trainwreck. Easily down to the level of Jerry Faust. He can run an offense acceptably and recruit some. As a HC he has no idea how to build a CFB program.
Another o-for in the B1G and Odom very well lands as a D quality control in a buddy's program.

Yeah, he’s likely gone if he doesn’t win a single P4 game. I don’t think we take joy in it enough that Purdue is the first B1G team in about 50 years to go winless in conference in back to back years
Love it.
...Love it.
Please bump that to 11 win seasons, so that Purdue drops off entirely. And for which we have two seasons in a row.
@hoosierdaddy I don't see Odom on the hot seat at all going into year 2.
Rhule hasn’t gotten it done in Lincoln, but they’re notoriously patient and will continue to be.
Frank Solich, Bo Pelini and Bill Callahan would like a word.
Solich (6 seasons), Pelini (7 seasons) and Callahan (4 seasons) were each beneficiaries of Nebraska’s patience, though Solich was clearly the victim of outsized expectations. Even Mike Riley got three seasons before being ousted by an AD who was way over his head administratively and financially (and who got chased out of Lincoln). Rhule, with an extension in hand, seems pretty safe at UNL entering his 4th year.

Go away, Ordfan.
@oneeyedundertaker I think Cal is the most likely team at the bottom of that list to hit 10 next year. They have a top 10 college QB, and had a great transfer haul. They also have a very easy schedule. The only pre-season ranked team they play this year is SMU. They also play v tech, Virginia and Clemson as their next set of toughest games
wouldn’t be surprised if they make the playoffs

Nah, not with all of that travel cross country. They aren't talented enough to be that locked in and not slip up in some games they should win.

Still not Ordman but facts are facts, no matter how much you may not like them. Thanks for the rent free offer but I’ve been set there since the Peegs days.
Always thought IU by hook or crook should have captured Solich when he was cut loose. 1 HC that didn't need a bright spotlight. My belief is he could have raised the fortunes of IUFB.
