I think we'll all have our own different version of this story. I've got a selfie of my daughter saying go Indiana as if she's Patton charging her tanks into battle. Part of my Auburn Alum story is so I can (sarcastically) have a football team to cheer for. Oh, how times have changed. How cool is it to be covering Indiana football when it happened?
You just can't write a better script. Worst team in CFB history. Hires a coach that no P4 program has given a chance. Recruits a bunch of nobodies. Develops a Heisman QB. Beats blue bloods. Heisman QB plays the team that wanted him to walk on and eventually offer a NIL deal that he turns down. He returns home to beat the team that wouldn't initially give him a scholarship on their home field with all the 4th quarter heroics a Hollywood writer could write.
