I know if we beat OSU, it's Pasadena.
I tend to think Sugar will be SEC.
Not sure where Cotton and Orange fit in.
I think if B10 has 2 byes it would be Orange Bowl.
They try to keep the traditional bowl tie-ins…So whichever B1G/SEC teams are no. 1 & 2, they will go to Rose & Sugar. After that, it’s based on the bowl geographically closest to the school’s campus.
So if IU is seeded 3rd, they go to the Cotton, since Dallas is closer to Bloomington than Miami. A 4th seed is trickier depending on who ultimately wins SEC. A&M would put us in Miami. Bama/UGA/Ole Miss would send us to Cotton.
I have heard Big Ten winner will go to the Rose Bowl, loser to the Orange (been told the Orange really wants IU).
Assuming the champs are in the top 4:
B1G champ definitely gets Rose.
SEC champ definitely gets Sugar.
That leaves Cotton & Orange.
I'm not sure if there's a hard and fast rule for how they're divvied up but it would make the most sense to me if one of the Texas schools would get Cotton if they're not SEC Champ. I think Texas Tech is a lock for the Cotton Bowl based on traditional history if they end up top 4 & Big 12 champs. It might get a little weird for UGA if they don't win the SEC. Neither Orange nor Cotton has a real sentimental history there.
Orange Bowl has an ACC tie-in so since that's not going to happen they're the odd one out. So that's my prediction for the B1G runner-up's most likely spot.
@thehoosierhuddle Orange would be great for the Mendoza family, but I don't want anything "loser"-related this season. We've got five more games (Bucket, B1G championship, quarters, semis and natty) . . . to WIN! 16-0, baby!!!
I'm liking the idea of going to the Orange Bowl.
Get the lay of the land before going back to play a couple weeks later.
Mendoza gets two playoff games in his hometown?
All the state of Florida recruits get a month of hearing Indiana Football buzz?
Giddy Up!!
I also like the Orange Bowl idea. I can get there easily.
And it is a home game for Fernando!
I think Texas Tech is a lock for the Cotton Bowl based on traditional history if they end up top 4 & Big 12 champs.
If the B1G and SEC are 1, 2, 3, and 4 after this weekend, they will merely place the B1G winner as the 1 seed, the B1G loser as the 3 seed. The SEC winner as the 2 seed and the SEC loser as the 4 seed. I would be shocked to see them move TT above any of the top 4, unless there as an absolute blowout.
I agree and they will probably send TA&M to the Cotton Bowl if Georgia beats them. I would prefer to be sent to the Rose because we stomp OSU but I can be happy with the Orange.I think Texas Tech is a lock for the Cotton Bowl based on traditional history if they end up top 4 & Big 12 champs.

Isn't fun just to be able to have these conversations. Just win baby!!!
