I like when the other coach remembers to ask for the fans to be involved. Means he knows it's a tough game... Looking for all the home field advantage he can get. And, of course he knows we have had some trouble with those level crowds.
It will be noisy! lol
@openwheel It is. It's great to finally be a part of big games where they matter. Autzen is probably the loudest stadium in College Football even though it sits around 60,000.
I hope that with the extra week we have worked on silent counts and how to "mix it up" so that the D can't guess exactly when the snap is coming and so that we don't false start.
The home D figuring out a simple silent count routine that you do over and over again makes it brutal on the O line.
"You can't make someone listen to reason if they aren't willing to think"-- Ray Bradbury, Fahrenheit 451
@shooter if I’m Cig on the first play I’m looking like I’m using the same count, but going on 2 and maybe they jump offsides.
The issue has to be fixed or IU has no shot.
@thehoosierhuddle It wouldnt be sustainable for more than a play, but I would really like to go without a physical signal on one of the plays early in the game and try and catch a deep shot. I.e. team counts to 3 Mississippi with no physical signal to coogan from lynch. Good chance we end up with false start, but the reward if it works would be a shot for a huge play. We have to get creative and keep them on their toes.
@hoosierdaddy Totally agree. IU just needs something to get them to think for a second before moving. So differing the timing would be great. Or going with the QB hand flash. This shouldn’t be rocket science.
In the Vanderbilt - Alabama game that crowd was loud yet Pavia was going back up to the line and both pointing and barking out commands. Pavia still barked out a cadence but also clapped and didnt always go the same clap.
I wondered why we have to silent when Vanderbilt appeared to be working not much different except adding the claps. The stadium was loud and against them. They lost but I dont think it was some big edge by the d-line. Maybe... they had a tougher time than usual. But not like us getting snowed under on some road games.
Think I heard that Iowa blitzed on nearly 80% of our passing plays.
Wonder how many times they blitzed on running plays?
Does anyone know what Oregon's defensive blitz percentages were against NW and Penn St.?
Our chances will be greatly improved with great communication and mental toughness.
@walt542 Oh I know. I listen to his radio show a lot (only because I can't get enough IU content and he has a show every day). I find myself yelling "WTF are you talking about?!" half the time. It's unreal some of his takes. But I am the idiot still listening so I guess he wins lol

Not gonna judge.

I'd punch myself in the face before I’d listen to him.
@kelly_32 oh I get it. But he has two guests on that I really like. Don Fischer and Mike Decourcey
