@spfldbill well I kind of disagree respectively. No matter how much they want to show the world something, that does nothing if IL
executes football better. They are taking this game important because it is the next game. Cig does not want them looking at all the other noise. Focus and execute. That is what will win this game.
Indiana runs a lot at least initially. Illinois does well attacking the Qb and man coverage. Jake Butt has numbers that shows Mendoza doesn’t do well against the blitz and man coverage. So Indiana needs to run and loosen em up. I worry about turnovers.
I really don’t have a good feeling about this game.

The IU coaching staff needs to be aware of this and adjust their gameplan accordingly. A good, well coached team can change how it plays depending on the opponent’s strengths and weaknesses.
@iugradman Duke has as many yards of offense as Illinois has but turned the ball over 5 times. Not all turnovers were forced by Illinois one was a muffed punt. INDIANA has one turnover this season, and that was by Beebe and he's not playing. We're good, we can run on this Illinois defense.
BEAT PURDUE
You can tell Ferentz kinda hates the transfer portal. 😂

Iowa really scheduled our game for their HOMECOMING?
Even more incentive to make them cry.

@shooter I don't know how Iowa does things, but I know IU tries to shoot for the same weekend every year regardless of opponent.
Google tells me that recent Iowa homecoming dates have been
Sept 27, 2025
Oct 26, 2024
Oct 7, 2023
Oct 29, 2022
Oct 16, 2021
Oct 31, 2020
So they don't do it the same weekend, and this year seems somewhat of an outlier, being a whole month earlier than 3 of the last 5. They do have two home games next month.
No biggie though. I'm not buying into it being extra motivation or anything, but it would make it just a tiny bit sweeter!

Then after last season they thought 'Oops!' .Iowa really scheduled our game for their HOMECOMING?
Even more incentive to make them cry.
