Hoosier Huddle

The History of Hoosier Huddle

Hoosier Huddle was founded in 2013 by Sammy Jacobs and Lloyd Ribner. Their goal was to enhance the coverage of Indiana football as an independent site. Since then Hoosier Huddle has evolved as we now cover all of IU sports.

Hoosier Huddle is your home for in-depth, passionate, and respectful coverage of Indiana University athletics. From the roar of Memorial Stadium to the electric atmosphere of Assembly Hall, we bring together IU fans from across the country—and around the world—to celebrate everything Crimson and Cream.

HoosierHuddle.com is more than just a sports forum—it’s a community. We provide a space to discuss breaking news, game-day analysis, recruiting, and the rich history of Hoosier sports, all while maintaining a respectful and welcoming environment.

Whether you’re a lifelong IU supporter, you’ll find your voice here. A student might be discovering the magic of Bloomington for the first time. Or perhaps you’re just someone who loves college sports done right.

The Writers

Sammy Jacobs – Sammy, a native of New York City, is a 2009 graduate from Indiana University with a degree from the School of HPER (Public Health) in Sports Communication and Broadcasting. He started Hoosier Huddle in July of 2013. He also has a Masters Degree in Physical Education from Canisius College in Buffalo, NY. You can follow him on Twitter @Hoosier_Huddle. He is a member of the Football Writers Association of America and a voter for the Outland Trophy, Ray Guy Award, Lou Groza Award, Eddie Robinson Award and the FWAA All-American Team.

TJ Inman – TJ, a native of Indiana, is a lifelong IU fan and a 2010 graduate of the IU School of Journalism. He joined Hoosier Huddle in January 2015 and currently resides in South Carolina with his wife and children.

Evan Alvarez- Evan is a 2017 graduate of Indiana University and grew an incredibly strong passion for the football team through attending games as a student and watching the high flying Nate Sudfeld-led offense. Evan now works in the Business Analytics field and hopes to bring some fun stats and analysis to his IUFB articles as well.

Ben Gillard– a native of Ann Arbor, Michigan, is the first Hoosier from a family of Wolverines (but we don’t hold that against him). He earned his undergraduate degree from Vassar College in New York and is currently a joint JD/MS student studying sports law and sports media at IU’s Maurer School of Law and Media School, making him Hoosier Huddle’s resident Legal & NIL expert. Be sure to check out his show “Pulse on the Pregame” on YouTube and follow him @benjgillard
