What Will Indiana’s Offensive Identity be Under New Coordinator Kalen DeBoer?

Witten by Evan McShane

Tom Allen got his guy when he hired Kalen DeBoer as Indiana’s new offensive coordinator. DeBoer has worked his way up the college football ladder and experienced success at multiple levels. Similar to Allen’s track record as a defensive coordinator, DeBoer has a history of successfully turning around several offensive units in a short amount of time. He also prides himself on going beyond football in terms of his coaching duties. “It's about the relationships that you can have with young men and giving them the greatest experience, they can have in their life or one of the greatest experiences,” DeBoer told reporters, “and that’s why I coach.” Kalen DeBoer is now, in Allen’s words, the Hoosiers’ head coach of the offense.

Nerves Don’t Vanquish Indiana Quarterback Jack Tuttle’s Hatred of Losing

Written by Nathan Comp

As one of the newest men on campus, Utah transfer quarterback Jack Tuttle is still figuring things out.

From learning the names of his new teammates to understanding how to take the A bus from the stadium to the Kelley School of Business, it’s a whole new world.

“First off, it’s about learning everyone’s name, you know? Learn their backgrounds, where they’re from, more than just football.” He continued describing the adjustment with a chuckle, “My classes are way further than I expected. I have to take the bus a lot more than I would like, but it’s part of the process.”

While things were somewhat hampered by quarterback personnel, the lack of aggression on offense left a lot to be desired. Now, after two straight seasons of missing a bowl game, the success or failure of this hire may go a long way toward determining how Tom Allen’s tenure is to play out in Bloomington.
