Indiana’s Week in Review

The #2 ranked Indiana Hoosiers Men’s Soccer Program is arguably the best team in the country. They continue to be undefeated on the year and trail only SMU in the rankings, who are similarly undefeated and look very good. However, one could argue that Indiana’s wins are more impressive, and they certainly added to that total this past Friday. The Hoosiers beat #6 Maryland decidedly by a score of 3-1. Fellow Hoosier Huddle contributor Ashton Enlow described IU’s win as, “one of its most complete performances of the season.” You can read Ashton’s full recap here for more details on the Hoosiers’ impressive win against their toughest opponent so far this season.

Now, the Hoosiers take on Kentucky at home on 10/6 at 8:00 PM ET on Big Ten Network and then face off against Hanover at home on 10/9 at 7:30 PM ET on B1G+.

Kentucky is off to a poor start thus far in 2026. The men’s team plays in the Sun Belt Conference and they currently have a record of 1-5-3 on the year. They have a few similar opponents to the Hoosiers and lost to most of them and just haven’t been able to find positive momentum thus far in 2026. They did, however, beat a strong Old Dominion squad this past Friday (who was ranked 23rd at the time) for the Wildcats’ first win of the season. Could this win serve as the momentum Kentucky’s been looking for? We will see on Tuesday.

Hanover is having a better season than the Wildcats, as they currently sit at a record of 4-3-3 and are third in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference. Hanover matched up against the Hoosiers last year and lost by a score of 8-0. Hanover is a Division III men’s soccer school – while they will compete valiantly and play hard, I fully expect a similar score line to last year’s matchup.

Indiana vs. Kentucky & Indiana vs. Hanover Predictions

This could be a relatively easy week for the Hoosiers after a blisteringly difficult schedule the past few weeks. The Hoosiers may play some reserves and younger players to get minutes and should be able to navigate these two matchups with ease.

I am predicting a 2-0 win over the Wildcats on Tuesday followed by a 6-0 win over Hanover on Friday.

Upcoming Indiana Schedule

After the Hoosiers host Kentucky and Hanover this week, they then travel to New Jersey for a matchup against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. Rutgers has been solid this year and is currently 4th in the Big Ten standings as of this writing with a conference record of 3-1-0 and an overall record of 5-4-1. Be on the lookout for a preview piece ahead of this matchup as well as Rutgers looks to get revenge for the recent Indiana/Rutgers American football matchup.
