Indiana’s Week in Review
The Indiana Hoosiers Men’s Soccer Program continues to run hot as one of the best teams in the country. In the recently released national rankings, Indiana came in at #2 in the country yet again, but this time received one first place vote (as of this writing) as well. The Hoosiers remain undefeated on the season and are coming off two very impressive games this past week. They traveled to Madison, Wisconsin to take on the Badgers (now ranked #19) and drew 1-1 in a tough fought game. Then, they returned home to face off against the Penn State Nittany Lions and took care of business with a 2-1 win.
Be sure to check out Campbell Manahan’s detailed recaps of both games in the following links: click here for the Wisconsin recap and click here for the Penn State recap.
Now, Indiana faces their biggest test of the 2026 season thus far. I feel like I’ve said this in the past few preview articles, but it’s true. Each week it seems that IU’s schedule gets tougher and tougher. This time, #6 Maryland comes to town. The Terrapins have had a very successful season thus far in 2026, boasting a record of 6-1-1 with their only defeat coming at the hands of the Northwestern Wildcats on the road in a brutal 4-0 loss. Besides that blip on the radar, Maryland has been very impressive. They’ve beaten very strong (and currently ranked) teams in Pittsburgh, Georgetown, and Wisconsin. The Terrapins are very good at scoring goals, but may have holes on defense. Thus, this could be an interesting clash of two different styles of play – the old “unstoppable force meets an immovable object” saying, but this time on the soccer pitch.
Indiana vs. Maryland Prediction
This will not be an easy match for the Hoosiers. Head Coach Todd Yeagley, his staff, and his players will have their work cut out for them. As of this writing, there is a 91% chance of rain expected on Friday, which will complicate things immensely if that comes to fruition at kick off. If it rains, I’ll say it’s a messy and scrappy 1-1 draw. If there are clear skies, I’ll take the Hoosiers by a score of 2-1.
Upcoming Indiana Schedule
After Maryland, the Hoosiers host Kentucky on Tuesday, 10/6 in Bloomington before hosting Hanover College on Friday, 10/9 in Bloomington as well. Be on the lookout for another preview piece from me ahead of these matchups.
