The biggest question coming into Curt Cignetti’s weekly press conference Monday was the health of starting running back Turbo Richard and starting linebacker Rolijah Hardy. In alignment with Adam Rittenberg’s report on Saturday, Indiana has received good new on Richard’s leg, which was injured on Friday against Northwestern.
“We got really good news on Turbo and he’ll be day-to-day. I’m optimistic he can play Saturday,” Cignetti said. Richard started all four games for the Hoosiers and has 383 yards on 50 carries with four touchdowns. He has also been a big factor in the kick return game as well.
Richard was injured in the second quarter on Friday night when a Northwestern tackler used a late, out-of-bounds hip-drop tackle. Richard’s leg got caught in a bad spot. The news is better than it was initially reported, by CBS Sports.
Indiana linebacker Rolijah Hardy was injured late in the game against the Wildcats, but it appears he could be able to play as well.
“We expect him to be fine.” Cignetti said.
Hardy has started the last two years for the Hoosiers. He leads IU with 29 totoal tackles. He has three tackles for loss and an interception.
