Stephen Daley and Kellan Wyatt are not expected to be eligible for the Western Kentucky game coming up this Friday, per Pete Thamel. They are awaiting a judge’s injunction ruling. They have been temporarily eligible for the Hoosiers first two games of the season and saw real playing time against Howard.
The judge on the case is expected to make their ruling as soon as Monday next week, per attorney Ryan Downton of the Texas Trial Group. The ruling will not come later than Friday next week.
This means that Indiana will be without their veteran edge rushers for Saturdays matchup against the Hilltoppers. Indiana has lots of depth at the edge rusher position, but it is a great luxury for them to potentially get Daley and Wyatt in the future.
What This Means for the Hoosiers
Indiana has to be ok with the fact that they might not have Wyatt and Daley moving forward. Wyatt hasn’t recorded a stat this season but did play in the Howard game. Daley has recorded six total tackles, two of them being solo. He appeared in both of Indiana’s games so far.
Indiana’s defensive line should be fine as they are a dominant unit, with a lot of depth. Josh Burnham and Daniel Ndukwe will likely see increased roles with this change. Indiana also is receiving this news in a matchup where they are favored by 44.5 points. Western Kentucky is 0-2, and coming off of a 70-20 loss against Georgia. Indiana will likely get to play as many players as they can at edge, in order to figure out who will take the leading roles in the absence of Daley and Wyatt.
