Countdown to 2026 Indiana Football- 7 Days Shazz Preston

Indiana WR Shazz Preston

The Hoosier Huddle Countdown to Kickoff is in its final week! As Curt Cignetti and his staff prepare for their third season in Bloomington with championship aspirations once again at the forefront, Hoosier Huddle continues one of our favorite offseason traditions: the Countdown to Kickoff. Over the 100 days leading up to Indiana’s season opener, we’ll spotlight every player on the 2026 roster. Today, we turn our attention to a new member in the receiving room, Shazz Preston.

With staples of the Curt Cignetti wide receiver room, Elijah Sarratt and Omar Cooper Jr. departed to the NFL, Indiana needed some reinforcements at the position this offseason. They found a great candidate for a slot receiver in Shazz Preston, a transfer from Tulane. Preston has appeared in 31 games over his collegiate career (first two years at Alabama, next two years at Tulane) and made 13 starts in those games, all coming last season with the Green Wave. He was extremely productive, recording a reception in all 14 games and multiple in the final 12 of the season. His best game came in last season’s College Football Playoff against Ole Miss, registering 125 yards on five catches.

While WR1 and WR2 positions are firmly locked up with Charlie Becker and Nick Marsh, the competition after that gets a bit more interesting. Preston is joined by guys like Tyler Morris, Lebron Bond, Davion Chandler, and even walk-on Jackson Wasserstrom, who has had a strong camp. Most likely, the first three nonconference games of the year will determine who ultimately rises to the top and sees the most playing time, though the love could be spread across multiple guys. No matter what, the Hoosier receiver room is in strong shape, and Preston will certainly play a factor in that.

The countdown continues each day on Hoosier Huddle until the Hoosiers kick off the 2026 season against the North Texas Mean Green!
