When Tyler Morris transferred to Indiana in 2025, there was a buzz of excitement in Bloomington. The Michigan transfer was one of the Wolverines’ leading receivers and punt returners in the 2024 season. In an offense that famously did not pass the ball, Morris had 248 yards and 2 touchdowns in 2024, with 39 catches for 470 yards and 3 touchdowns over his career.
Perhaps the most famous play of Morris’ career came in the 2024 Rose Bowl when he caught a slant and turned upfield for 38 yards and a touchdown, helping put the Wolverines back on top on their way to a National Championship.
Morris looked poised to have a bigger role with the Hoosiers in 2025, until a knee injury ended his debut season before it even began. Instead, over the past 16 months Morris was forced to watch on the sidelines as yet another one of his schools won a National Championship–this time without him.
“It definitely was tough, right after getting here and being hurt so fast. I did it before in high school so I knew I could do it again. In my mind, I was just preparing for this year. Everything I did in recovery and working out and just trying to learn, I just wanted to be as prepared for this year as I could. It took about nine months until I was feeling back and able to run routes and all that.” Morris explained to the media earlier this week.
Now that he is back healthy, Morris will be a talented third option in Indiana’s three-headed monster receiving corps alongside Charlie Becker and Nick Marsh, lining up both in the slot and returning kicks for the Hoosiers.
Morris has already shown glimpses of what he can do in this year’s Spring Game, catching a long touchdown pass from Grant Wilson. Now the question becomes who is more excited for his IU debut? Morris or the Indiana fanbase?
The countdown continues each day on Hoosier Huddle until the Hoosiers kick off the 2026 season against the North Texas Mean Green!
