#14 Indiana Looks To Stay Undefeated Against Butler

The Indiana Hoosiers Men’s Soccer Program has vaulted up the national rankings after a hot start. Entering the season ranked #22 in the country, the Hoosiers now land at #14. In addition, they are the third-highest-ranked Big Ten team after Maryland (#4) and Washington (#11). This big change in national ranking comes after the Hoosiers’ blistering start to the 2026 campaign.

To begin the season, the Hoosiers beat the Notre Dame Fighting Irish by a score of 3-1. Indiana’s talent was on full display as they worked hard out of possession and dazzled with the ball in possession. You can read more about that game from our fellow contributor, Campbell Manahan, here.

Then, Indiana took on another in-state school, beating Evansville 3-0 in a foul-ridden game where Indiana’s talent continued to shine. Check out Campbell Manahan’s recap of that game here.

With these two strong performances, Indiana has now put the nation on notice. On top of that, they boast the most in-form and arguably best player in the country in Oliver Moller-Jensen, who through those two games has 3 goals and 2 assists. I’ll say that again – in just two games, Moller-Jensen has three goals and two assists. If his pace continues, he will be well on his way to a record-breaking season. His talent is real and it’s clear he is the star of this Indiana squad.

Now, Indiana faces off against another in-state opponent, the Butler Bulldogs. Butler is not off to a strong start this season, holding a record of 0-1-1. The season is early of course, but this record puts them near the bottom of the Big East standings as of this writing. They opened up their season losing to Northern Illinois at home 2-0, then drew against Bradley at home 0-0.

As such, Butler has yet to score a goal this season and that may not change against a stingy Indiana defense.

My Prediction

Indiana replicates their performance against Evansville and wins 3-0. Evansville is likely better than Butler, so Indiana may play some of their reserves in this matchup to give other players valuable minutes while giving key starters some rest ahead of what could be a long season with many important and high-pressure games to come.
