Indiana football is getting close enough you can smell the grills and hear the music from the tailgate lots. With 16 days left we take a look at freshman safety Jamar Owens.
Isaiah Jones
Height: 6’0”
Weight: 172 pounds
Hometown: Jonesboro, Georgia/Douglas County
Owens enters his first season with the Hoosiers after a standout high school career at Douglas County. As a junior, he made 70 tackles, three interceptions and two forced fumbles.
He comes in with time to develop and a heck of a group to learn from in front of him. He has the tools to be a really good safety. He’s fast and while he needs to bulk up to he is athletic enough to be a difference maker.
With the red-shirt rules changed to five seasons to play five seasons, Owens could start making an impact on special teams and working his way into the rotation for the 2027 season.
The countdown continues each day on Hoosier Huddle until IU kicks off the 2026 season against the North Texas Mean Green!
