Training camp is underway, and the season is nearing. Indiana football is seeking a repeat title in the vast, ever-changing college football landscape. One of these changes affects Ja’dyn Williams. This is the five-in-five rule that has been passed, essentially eliminating the purpose of a redshirt. Williams is an incoming freshman who will likely see more playing time than he would’ve if born a year earlier.

Class/Position: Freshman/Linebacker
Ja’dyn Williams is a true freshman out of Ohio who is a four-star recruit according to 247. Williams had lots of success in high school, winning a state championship as a sophomore. He was second-team all-district as a junior and first-team as a senior.
In his senior season, he recorded 115 tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss, seven sacks, three fumble recoveries, one interception, and two touchdowns. This caught the attention of several schools. Indiana ultimately won him over, but Duke, Boston College, Kentucky, and Cincinnati all gave him scholarship offers.
At 6’1”, 211 pounds, Williams is poised to play right away. He obviously still has a lot to grow in, but if the coaching staff trusts him to play right away, then he will have great opportunities to learn and improve.
Indiana’s linebacking room was vital in their national championship run last year, with Aiden Fischer leading that charge. Williams will have great shoes to follow as a Hoosier.
