The Hoosier Huddle Countdown to Kickoff is in its final four weeks! As Curt Cignetti and his staff prepare for their third season in Bloomington with championship aspirations once again at the forefront, Hoosier Huddle continues one of our favorite offseason traditions: the Countdown to Kickoff. Over the 100 days leading up to Indiana’s season opener, we’ll spotlight every player on the 2026 roster. Today, we turn our attention to a new in-state recruit in last year’s high school class, Kasmir Hicks.
Height: 5’11”
Weight: 177 pounds
Hometown: Indianapolis, Indiana
Class/Position: Freshman/Defensive Back
One of Indiana’s marquee commitments in the 2026 recruiting class was Kasmir Hicks, a four-star prospect from Decatur Central High School and a highly rated talent in the 247Sports Composite rankings. A true do-it-all player, Hicks made an impact on offense, defense, and special teams throughout his high school career. He finished with 103 tackles, seven interceptions, and 30 pass breakups, while also proving to be a game-changing playmaker with the ball in his hands. Three of his interceptions were returned for touchdowns, and he added 32 offensive scores along with three kickoff return touchdowns.

Hicks represented another significant in-state recruiting win for Curt Cignetti and his staff as Indiana continued to keep top Indiana talent home. Projected to begin his career at cornerback, Hicks enters a defensive back room with plenty of depth, giving him the opportunity to develop within the system and refine his game before being called upon for a larger role.
The countdown continues each day on Hoosier Huddle until the Hoosiers kick off the 2026 season against the North Texas Mean Green!
