The Indiana Hoosiers have added another fifth-year player to their roster, thanks to last week’s court rulings as Kellan Wyatt announced his return to the program. Wyatt played three seasons at Maryland before transfering to Indiana last season. He was a force in the season’s first seven games before injuring his leg and being lost for the season.
In seven games for the Hoosiers, Wyatt made 27 tackles, including eight for a loss. He was a force coming off the edge. Indiana’s roster currently sits at 106, which will need to be trimmed down to 105 prior to Indiana’s first game on September 5th.
The Hoosiers added Stephen Daley to the roster just a couple days ago and are building one of the most dominant defensive fronts in the sport.
“We have guys that have played football who are experienced guys. You get better, you get worse, you never stay the same. You get out what you put in. I’ve got two really good coaches there in Pat Kuntz and Buddha Williams, and Bryant does a great job. So there’s a lot of TFLs and sacks returning, tackles, things of that nature. Look, humble and hungry is the only way I know.” Indiana head coach Curt Cignetti said on Wednesday.
As fall practice proceeds, it’ll be clearer what the exact roles and how soon Wyatt can be acclimated into drills and the rotation up front. Also keep in mind that all of this can change in an instant with another court ruling.
