71

Development is guaranteed in college athletics. From one year to the next, players grow and become more confident. Today, we highlight one of those players. A player whose impact may have gone unnoticed in the 2025 season for the Hoosiers; however, he was there every step of the way. Defensive back Anthony Chung takes center stage today as the Hoosier Huddle Countdown to Kickoff rolls on.

Height: 6-1

Weight: 199 lbs.

Hometown: Mequon, Wis.

Anthony Chung calls Mequon, Wisconsin, home, having competed at Homestead High School. In high school, Chung saw success on the football field as a defensive back. As a junior, Chung recorded 95 tackles, three interceptions, one forced fumble, and one recovered fumble. In his senior year, Chung was recognized for his stellar performances, earning him first-team All-State by the Associated Press and the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association. He was also recognized as an all-region player and chosen as the North Shore Conference Defensive Back of the Year.

Chung arrived in Bloomington as a walk-on in 2023 and redshirted his initial collegiate season. In 2024, as a redshirt freshman, Chung did not see any game action, but he stayed diligent in the classroom, earning Academic All-Big Ten honors. In 2025, Chung’s playing time jumped significantly, as he appeared in all 16 games. His collegiate debut came against Old Dominion. Chung found himself predominantly on special teams, where he accumulated four solo tackles and two assists. Chung earned Academic All-Big Ten honors for a second consecutive year.

Chung’s 2025 season demonstrated tremendous growth for the young defensive back as he jumped from zero minutes of playing time to appearing in all 16 games. While his stats may not reflect total dominance as a player, they showcase a player who was there every step of the way. While Chung continues to push for defensive snaps and stat production this season, he remains in a strong position to elevate his impact on special teams.

The countdown continues each day on Hoosier Huddle until the Hoosiers kick off the 2026 season against the North Texas Mean Green!
