Reports: DL Stephen Daley to Rejoin Indiana for Fifth Year

IU DL Stephen Daley
Purdue Boilermakers running back Antonio Harris (22) is tackled by Indiana Hoosiers defensive lineman Stephen Daley (8) on Friday, Nov. 28, 2025, during the 100th annual Old Oaken Bucket game at Ross-Ade Stadium in West Lafayette.

The Indiana Hoosiers have reportedly added defensive lineman Stephen Daley back to the roster after last week’s court ruling gave class of 2022 high school graduates a fifth year of eligibility. First reported by Pete Thamel of ESPN, Daley will take advantage of the ruling and return to IU.

Daley came to Indiana ahead of the 2025 season from Kent State where he played his first three years of college ball. Daley shared time with Kellen Wyatt on the defensive line before taking over the starting job when Wyatt went down with a season-ending injury.

In 13 games, Daley finished as Indiana’s leader in tackles for loss with 19. However, he missed the Hoosiers’ Playoff run after a bad luck injury occurred as he was jumping (barely) to high-five a fan after winning the Big Ten Championship. It is unclear how far along Daley is in his rehab, but IU obviously felt comfortable enough to bring him back.

The Hoosiers are loaded up front as they reinforced the line with transfers Joshua Burnham, Chiddi Obiazor and Tobi Osunsami. Adding Daley will make an already strong front even better and deeper.

The Hoosiers are set to open fall camp on Wednesday as they prepare for their 2026 season opener on September 5th against North Texas.
