The Hoosier Huddle Countdown to Kickoff is nearing two-thirds complete! As Curt Cignetti and his staff prepare for their third season in Bloomington with championship aspirations once again at the forefront, Hoosier Huddle continues one of our favorite offseason traditions: the Countdown to Kickoff.
Over the 100 days leading up to Indiana’s season opener, we’ll spotlight every player on the 2026 roster. Today, we turn our attention to a player who grew up with the dream of playing for Indiana, Heath Kizer.
Height: 6’1”
Weight: 203 pounds
Hometown: Indianapolis, Indiana
Class/Position: Redshirt Sophomore/Defensive Back
Entering his third season with the Hoosiers this year will be Heath Kizer, a preferred walk-on originally from North Central High School who joined the program in Cignetti’s first year. Kizer grew up an IU fan through his father, Bob Kizer, who was an IU football letterwinner in the 1993 and 1994 seasons.
“I attended my first IU football game when I was six months old,” Kizer told 247Sports’ Matt Weaver. “I have gone to games and tailgated with my family every year since. It has always been a dream of mine to one day play in Memorial Stadium.”
Kizer has not yet seen game action, but he did earn Academic All-Big Ten honors last season. As he continues to gain practice experience, I would imagine Kizer is closing to seeing playing time on special teams as he continues to gain Cignetti and his staff’s trust.
