Countdown to 2026 Indiana Football- 39 Days Trevor Gibbs

Curt Cignetti has valued a versatile tight end who can help both the pass and run games. Trevor Gibbs played both Linebacker and Tight End in his high school days, making him a prime candidate for the tight end job in Indiana. He will likely not play much in his first collegiate season, but is part of this program’s future, as Cignetti builds a national powerhouse.

Trevor Gibbs was a great high school tight end. He was rated as the 19th tight end nationally and a top 15 Indiana recruit out of high school. He was a consensus three-star prospect and helped Crown Point to a 35-3 record over his years. 

At 6’2”, 242 pounds, Gibbs is a bit undersized to play as a freshman. He will likely want to bulk up to the 260 range eventually.

Because Gibbs played linebacker in high school, he could be utilized as a special teams player in his freshman season or throughout his collegiate career. Special teams have always been a strong part of the Curt Cignetti, Indiana football teams. 

Gibbs was heavily recruited by Purdue and Cincinnati, but ultimately decided to commit to the Hoosiers. He wants to be part of the success that the program has been having. Getting Gibbs to commit is big as Indiana looks to secure all the major Indiana recruits every season. Keeping the local pipeline is crucial to running a program. 

It is unlikely that Gibbs sees much of the field, but with the new five-year-to-play-five-seasons rule, NCAA freshmen are more likely to play. There is no point in redshirting anymore.
