Countdown to 2026 Indiana Football- 40 Days Quentin Clark

The memories of IU’s unprecedented and historic unbeaten run to the National Championship are still fresh in our minds but the work is just beginning for the 2026-2027 Indiana Hoosiers. As Curt Cignetti and his staff gear up for year number three in Bloomington and embark on a quest to become repeat champs, Hoosier Huddle’s Countdown to Kickoff rolls on!

With the season a bit more than a month away and the preview discourse ramping up, fans are on the lookout for potential breakout stars. On a team that was restocked via the transfer portal with defensive ends like Chiddi Obiazor, Tobi Osunsanmi and Josh Burnham and returns players like Daniel Ndukwe, it could be difficult for any edge rusher to break through. One player that could fit the bill though, is the subject of today’s countdown article: Quentin Clark.

Clark is a native of Georgia and he starred for West Laurens High School as an exceptional all-around athlete. The 6’1” Clark lettered and excelled in basketball, track and field and weightlifting in addition to his work on the gridiron as a football player. He had 105 tackles, six sacks and five forced fumbles as a junior and was ranked as the number 26 linebacker in the 2024 class.

Clark was a big get for the Hoosiers but he was surprisingly moved from linebacker to the defensive line as an edge rusher. In 2024, he appeared in one game before getting on the field in 14 games as a redshirt freshman in 2025. The move to the defensive line stuck but Clark is still only listed at 221 pounds and he has, thus far, mostly appeared on special teams. 

Defensive line coaches Pat Kuntz and Buddha Williams have done a fantastic job recruiting and replenishing the talent in this unit. In other eras of IU football, Clark would probably already be starting. His high school highlight film was a lot of fun and showed a quick and instinctive player who could move sideline to sideline and tackle like a tracking missile. Eventually, that talent is going to get a chance to show on the field and his speed could make him a dangerous pass rusher.

He figures to start the season behind Tobi Osunsanmi and Daniel Ndukwe at the Stud position. There should be plenty of opportunity for snaps early in the season and if he can show that he’s ready for more, Clark could be in the rotation of five to six edge players that Kuntz and Williams typically lean on.
