Countdown to 2026 Indiana Football- 41 Days Keishaun Calhoun

New seasons bring on new opportunities; players get a chance to prove themselves year after year and fight for a moment on the field. For Indiana Football, many players will seek a chance to make a difference this year, and with a National Championship title on their belts, the stakes just got a lot higher.

Defensive lineman Keishaun Calhoun will be one of those players, fighting for an opportunity, and this might be the year for him to grasp hold of it. The Hoosier Huddle’s Countdown to Kickoff rolls on!

Keishaun Calhoun attended Groveport-Madison High School, where he was given first-team all-conference and second- team all-district honors as a junior. Calhoun had a dominant junior year, accumulating 42 tackles, 11.0 tackles for loss, and 5.0 sacks. He found the end zone twice on defense and contributed to three forced fumbles and three recovered fumbles.

According to 247Sports, Calhoun was a three-star prospect out of high school. He was the 56th-ranked player in Ohio and ranked at 131st among defensive linemen across the country. Calhoun committed to Indiana on June 20, 2024, choosing the Hoosiers over offers from Eastern Michigan, Western Michigan, Marshall, and others.

Calhoun chose to redshirt his freshman season at Indiana and has spent the year developing and learning from veterans. Calhoun’s large 6-foot-2 frame allows him to gain outside leverage and displace opponents. He delivers hard hits and shows a willingness to chase down the ball carrier to the second level when necessary.

His 5.0 sacks in a single season clearly demonstrate a player who can get inside and disrupt the quarterback. Calhoun also has great reach and can often take care of the ball mid-air and disrupt the passing game. His high school film also shows a player who can perform well in multiple areas up front, including as a 5-technique defensive end and as a stand-up edge rusher. This versatility will allow the Indiana coaching staff to use him in multiple defensive packages.

While Tyrique Tucker and Mario Landino will likely take center stage this season, Calhoun could play as a solid depth man when needed. Calhoun will likely find snaps on the field this season and could be a significant contributor to the Hoosiers’ defense. He is definitely someone to watch out for.
