Indiana redshirt freshman defensive lineman Tyrone Burrus was reportedly arrested on Thursday by the Bloomington Police Department at 5:30 pm according to a police report. A user on X had posted the report, before deleting it.

According to the report, Burrus was arrested on domestic battery charges. He was charged with a level 6 felony for strangulation, which can carry a jail sentence of anywhere from six months to 2.5 years and a domestic violence ‘A’ misdemeanor.

A spokesman from Indiana Athletics had the following statement:

“IU Athletics is aware of the situation. We will continue to gather facts, cooperate with and monitor the legal process, and take further action as the evolving situation warrants.”

Burruss came to Indiana from Warren Central High School in Indianapolis as a highly sought-after recruit. He played in two games last season as a true freshman and made two tackles. Heading into this season, it was expected that Burrus was going to have a bigger role as part of the defensive line rotation.
