Countdown to 2026 Indiana Football 48 Days – Sam Lindsey

54

We slowly inch closer to Indiana kicking off against North Texas in the Hoosiers’ season opener on September 5th. As we run our countdown each day at Hoosier Huddle, we now line up at day 48, where we highlight Sam Lindsey.

Height: 6’0”

Weight: 188 lbs

Hometown: Lilburn, Georgia

High School: Parkview

Class: Redshirt Junior

Position: Long Snapper

Previous School: Georgia State

For well over a decade, the Hoosiers have been blessed with immensely talented long snappers. In recent memory, Dan Godsil, Sean Wracher, and Mark Langston have held down the position with elite success, earning several accolades and recognitions in the process. Now, after two college football playoff appearances and a national title with Mark Langston, a transition period arises at long snapper.

Currently, IU has two long snappers on the roster who are juniors or older. Drew Clausen, a Graduate Student who just arrived from Iowa State on scholarship, and Sam Lindsey, who is currently a walk-on. For 2026, it seems as though it is Clausen’s job to lose, given his age, experience, and the fact that he is on scholarship. However, don’t discount Sam Lindsey. Even if he spends 2026 learning from the experienced Clausen and the IU coaching staff, he has all the skills to take 2027 and beyond by storm.

Lindsey was rated as a five-star long snapper prospect by Rubio Long Snapping and has also won several award recognitions in high school. Lindsey brings legitimate skill and a sky high ceiling to the long snapper position and certainly has what it takes to lead a special teams unit, continuing the strong pedigree of long snappers that IU has produced over the years. Lindsey will make a real impact on this team either this year or next – be on the lookout when IU is punting or kicking and watch for #45!

Stay locked in with Hoosier Huddle as we continue to march on with the Countdown to Kickoff for Indiana Football each day!
