The Hoosier Huddle Countdown to Kickoff rolls on! As Curt Cignetti and his staff gear up for chapter three in Bloomington with another championship as the end goal, we at Hoosier Huddle continue with one of our favorite offseason content traditions, the countdown to kickoff. Over the 100 days leading up to opening kickoff, we at Hoosier Huddle will highlight each player from this season’s roster. Today, we’ll highlight a leader along the offensive line, Drew Evans.

In the transfer portal era, roster continuity, especially along the offensive line, can make a major difference. Drew Evans’ return should help Curt Cignetti maintain that stability, as Evans is expected to slide back in at left guard, where he has already made 21 starts. He has been part of an offensive line that earned Joe Moore Award semifinalist recognition in each of the past two seasons and was a finalist last year. Although nagging injuries have limited him at times, including a season-ending injury in 2024 and a four-week absence in 2025, Indiana’s offensive line is clearly better when Evans is on the field.

Evans is projected to start at left guard again this season, though he could also compete with Bray Lynch for the center spot vacated by Pat Coogan. Lynch appears more likely to take over at center, allowing Evans to stay at the position where he has become most comfortable.

The countdown continues each day on Hoosier Huddle until the Hoosiers kick off the 2026 season against the North Texas Mean Green!
