Add Hoosier Huddle to GoogleJaylen Bell arrived in Bloomington last year as a true freshman three star recruit (per 247 Sports Composite Rankings) and appeared in 14 games for the Hoosiers. Typically, his game time occurred during blowouts or on special teams, but Bell played a key role for the championship winning Indiana Hoosiers and undoubtedly expects to absorb all he has learned to take his game to the next level in 2026 as a sophomore.
Bell boasts an offer list that you don’t usually see for a three star recruit, illustrating that he may be incredibly undervalued by recruiting sites. He received offers from Indiana, LSU, Arkansas, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Louisville, Miami, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Texas A&M, and many other big time programs. Bell already impacted the Hoosiers in 2025 during a championship winning season, and is certainly in line for more snaps and increased impact in 2026.
The talent is there, with the only slight knock potentially being Bell’s size. However, does that really even matter? If I remember correctly, the Hoosiers had the best cornerback in the country last year in D’Angelo Ponds who is listed at 5’8″ and 182 pounds. Bell was in the same room as Ponds watching film and honing their craft. The example is there for smaller built cornerbacks to thrive in Bloomington, and Bell is next in line. Be on the lookout for Jaylen Bell, folks, as he could easily become the next great Hoosier cornerback.
