Countdown to 2026 Indiana Football Kickoff: 83 Days – Hunter Stroud

Football player Hunter Stroud catching a football, with a countdown of 83 days until kickoff displayed alongside.

We slowly inch closer to Indiana kicking off against North Texas in the Hoosiers’ season opener on September 5th. As we run our countdown each day at Hoosier Huddle, we now line up at day 83, where we highlight #83 Hunter Stroud.

2026 Countdown To Kickoff: Day 83 – Hunter Stroud

Height: 6’0”

Weight: 183 lbs

Hometown: Martinsville, Indiana

High School: Martinsville

Class: Redshirt Freshman

Position: Wide Receiver

Hunter Stroud joined the football program as a walk-on this past season and, while he did not appear in any game action, was able to bring his strong work ethic and impressive high school resume to Bloomington in contributing to a championship winning season.

Stroud was lightly recruited coming out of high school, receiving an offer from Dayton along with interest from Indiana State and Indiana. Eventually, of course, he chose Indiana after being recruited by Mike Shanahan (all info per 247 Sports recruiting database).

Stroud was an incredibly strong contributor for Martinsville High School, winning a regional championship as a senior along with several all-state recognitions across the board. He owns basically every receiving record there is at Martinsville High School and also led the state of Indiana in receptions his senior season with 106 total receptions. On top of that, he returned kickoffs and punts and was an academic all-state performer as well.

Truly, Stroud seems like a receiver who has gone under the radar in the recruiting space. While undersized, Mike Shanahan and company likely see a diamond in the rough, tucked away in Martinsville, Indiana, just waiting to shine on the big stage in Bloomington. Keep an eye on Stroud, Hoosier fans. Coach Cignetti’s philosophy has famously always been not caring about stars and focusing solely on production. Well, as we’ve seen, Stroud has seen significant production during his time in high school. Now they will work to translate those skills to the next level, and I won’t be betting against any of the people involved in doing that.

Stay locked in with Hoosier Huddle as we continue to march on with the Countdown to Kickoff for Indiana Football each day!
