With the Indiana football season months away, now is the time to get to know the team that will look to repeat as national champions in 2026. Tyrone Burrus Jr. saw minimal playing time in 2025, but seeks to be a depth piece on the Indiana defensive line that oozes talent.

Height: 6’4”

Weight: 245 pounds

Hometown: Fishers, Indiana (Fishers)

Class/Position: Redshirt Freshman/ Edge

The Warren Central graduate watched from the sideline as Indiana won the 2025 national title. Burrus saw his only collegiate playing time in Indiana’s 56-3 beatdown of rival Purdue, where he recorded one assisted tackle.

This season, Burrus will attempt to be a rotational piece on the defensive front that was Indiana’s stand-out unit in the Spring Game.

Burrus presents a unique level of speed that could help him crack the lineup more this season. His track background in high school helped him maintain that. A unanimous three-star edge rusher and a top 10 Indiana recruit from Warren Central High School, where he received all-state recognition in his junior season.

Out of high school, Burrus needed to add muscle to play at the collegiate level. He has done just that, as he is now listed at 245 pounds, a 20-pound increase from his High School weight.

As an Indiana native, Burrus will look to be a fan favorite in 2026.
