Brentwood, Tennessee, offensive lineman Rance Brown was recently on IU’s campus in Bloomington to take in spring practice. The class of 2027 prospect is a 3-star offensive tackle who stands at 6’6 and tips the scales at 290 pounds.
Indiana is new on the scene in this recruitment as Brown did not include them among his “Top 5” on April 17th, and IU offered him on April 21st. His original top five included Auburn, Kentucky, North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia Tech. However, that seems to have changed.
“I was completely open-minded and didn’t have any expectations I just wanted to see what it was about,” Brown said as he described his expectations for the visit.
Brown took in one of IU’s spring practices and walked away very impressed by what he saw.
“They definitely shocked me, either way, the facilities and campus, practice was also gritty and tough,” Brown said. He was also surprised by how quick practice was. He said they were on the field for about an hour and 45 minutes.
Several other things impressed Brown as well, including some of IU’s facilities. “Their weight room was incredible,” he gushed.
Brown has several official visits lined up with Auburn (May 19), Kentucky (June 12) and Tennessee (June 19). Brown did say he set up an official visit to IU as well on a date to be confirmed.

Brown said conversations with the coaching staff went well, and he will see where IU stands in his recruitment when he returns to Bloomington for his official visit.
Brown is transferring into Brentwood to play his senior season after playing for Southside in Gadsden, Alabama.
