Hoosiers Set to Host a Multitude of Star Recruits This Weekend

The Indiana Hoosiers will be hosting a who's who of star football recruits on official visits starting Friday in Bloomington. IU plays host to the Little 500 as well, which should provide an excellent atmosphere. Who is in Town and is Already Committed? The Hoosiers have three players on official visits this weekend who have committed to the program already in quarterback Jameson Purcell, defensive back Monsanna Torbert and linebacker Garyon Hobbs. Both are highly ranked and locked into the Hoosiers. Purcell has been locked into IU since last July, and that will not change. He has been to multiple spring practices and will get to enjoy his official visit during one of the busiest weekends at IU. The Hoosiers staff loves to mix in some committed players to go along with ones who have yet to commit, to try to sell the program. Torbert is also locked into IU as other big-name schools are starting to come around. He is the Hoosiers highest rated commit in the 2027 class. Hobbs committed on the same day as Torbert in January, just after Indiana's Peach Bowl win over Oregon. He's a top-10 player in Kentucky and will bring some cache to the weekend as IU tries to land a few big fish. Uncommitted Prospects Sales is one of the two headliners this weekend. A five-star, top-10 player nationally is back on campus for his official visit. Sales has been to IU a bunch over the past year as he hails from just up the road in Indianapolis. These are the kinds of recruits that people think IU starts to land after the success of the last two years. IU has laid the groundwork, proved that the program can win it all and has a real chance to land Sales when it is all said and done. It also does not hear that former Lawrence North wide receiver Omar Cooper Jr. was a first-round pick on Thursday night. Another composite five-star and top-50 national prospect, Williams-Callis is in town. He has offers from Alabama and 68 other schools. IU is his first official visit as well. With Indiana's ties to the state of Virginia, it's no surprise they will try and pluck one of the state's best. Kenaz Sullivan's first official is IU, but he has several more lined up this spring and summer, according to 247Sports. He will go to South Carolina (May 1), Virginia Tech (May 29), Tennessee (June 5) and Ohio State (June 12). IU likes to get the first visit most of the time as it can set the tone for the recruitment. Another solid player from Indianapolis has IU right there with Tennessee, Michigan and Purdue. Brewer will visit the other three schools later this summer, according to 247Sports. Indiana is starting to attract the top talent from Indianapolis. In the past, IU has seen some really great players head out of state to play their college ball. 247Sports has Oglesby predicted to be a Hoosier when his recruitment ends. He has been at spring practice and has already completed official visits to Purdue and North Carolina. After IU he is scheduled to go to USC and Kansas in May. I would not be totally shocked if Oglesby was one that popped from this group. It's not very often IU gets a prospect in from Massachusetts, but Scott is a good one. Maybe that road game at UMass did pay off? Schott has one other scheduled official visit to Iowa in June. Prospects Committed to Other Schools Brewster is the second huge fish in this group, along with Sales. He has been at IU multiple times, but is still committed to Texas Tech. He has said that his recruitment is not over, though. Brewster will head to Miami at the end of May for an official visit. I expect this one to drag out at least until then.
