Nico Radicic has infectious confidence heading into his fourth season at Indiana. Radicic excelled as the Hoosiers’ place kicker last season for Indiana, going 18-for-19 on field goals and 100 percent on extra points. Radicic was asked how he works to improve.

“I think I need to just keep sustaining it, not filling my head with the fact that I had two 90 percent years. My goal is to be the most accurate kicker in college history.”

The career record for field goal make percentage is 90 percent by Brett Baer of Louisiana, who hit 45 of his 50 field goal attempts from 2009 to 2012.

Radicic is not living in the past, but instead is confident in his future. This follows the trend seen with the Indiana team. Nobody cares about last season; instead, the focus is on 2026. It would be simple to dwell in the past, since they did achieve great things, but this team is only looking forward.

Radicic is confident in where he can be, but humble about what he has achieved so far. While having steep goals, Radicic stays calm in his preparation.

“Take it day by day… see what I can improve on that day. I’ve kicked every single day of spring ball for the first time since I’ve been here… I’ve looked at my film every single day to see where I can get better.”

Radicic’s confidence is in his preparation, but it’s also in his consistency.

“My confidence was always built on being a guy that’s very consistent, as I made the kicks.”

The confidence in Radicic’s abilities will be key to succeeding this year. He is kicking every day to achieve his goals.

Kicking is such a mental game, as most collegiate kickers have similar physical abilities. It is all about being able to consistently hit their kicks, which is a mental struggle. It’s about getting the same reps every day, so that it becomes normal on game days.

Indiana’s special teams will be a major component of on-field success, as it was last season. In the national championship, Mikail Kamara delivered a punt block that turned into a touchdown, and led to a 27-21 Hoosier victory. Special teams are a very important part of Indiana’s success, and consistency at the place kicker position is as important as any other. Radicic wants to improve upon his absurdly consistent 2025 season.

Radicic will kick in Indiana’s Spring Game this Thursday, as he works to continue consistently knocking down kicks for Indiana this season.
