Indiana Rides Win Streak Into Home Series Against Abilene Christian

The Indiana Hoosiers are on a two-game winning streak, recently defeating Evansville 8-6, boosted by standout player Caleb Koskie. With upcoming games against Abilene Christian, Indiana ranks 98th in RPI and 94th in ELO. The Hoosiers aim for a series sweep on their home field, showcasing improved performance.

Examining The Series:

The Indiana Hoosiers have now won two straight games and are looking for more. They beat Evansville last night by a score of 8-6 and currently have one of the hottest hitters in the country in Caleb Koskie, who hit another homerun in this game. This win was huge for momentum as the Hoosiers look to extend their winning streak into a weekend series against Abilene Christian. Looking at this weekend’s series, the game information is as follows (all games in Bloomington, Indiana):

Game 1: Friday, April 17 @ 6:00 PM ET on B1G+

Game 2: Saturday, April 18 @ 2:00 PM ET on B1G+

Game 3: Sunday, April 19 @ 12:00 PM ET on B1G+

Now, let’s look at where both teams stand in nationwide rankings as of this writing:

Indiana: The Hoosiers are back in the top 100 in rankings again, as they rank 98th overall in the country by RPI and 94th overall in the country by ELO, a more analytical ranking system. They are 6-4 in their last 10 games and have a strength of schedule ranking of 52nd overall in the country.

Abilene Christian: The Wildcats rank similarly to the Hoosiers, ranking 115th in the country by RPI and 113th in the country by ELO. They are 4-6 in their last 10 games and have a strength of schedule ranking of 93rd overall in the country.

Indiana Stats and Figures:

2: By Pythagorean Record, an analytical way to measure what a team’s overall record should be after weighing their runs scored and runs allowed, the Hoosiers are 18-19. This looks significantly better than their current record of 16-21, even if it is just two wins, and shows that the Hoosiers may have been a bit unlucky thus far in the 2026 season.

3: The Hoosiers now have three players with an OPS over 1.000. The new team leader? The aforementioned Caleb Koskie, who is on an absolute tear at the moment. Koskie sports an OPS of 1.093 while Hogan Denny (1.045) and Jake Hanley (1.045, not a typo) follow as the team leaders. As a whole, this puts all three players inside the top 20 in the entire Big Ten by way of OPS rankings, with Koskie leading the way at 13th best in the Big Ten.

Prediction and Next Series:

The Hoosiers are playing well lately and the bats are hot. I am predicting the first series sweep of the season, especially as the Hoosiers are playing on their home field.

After hosting Abilene Christian, the Hoosiers will then travel to Muncie, Indiana to take on the Ball State Cardinals before returning back to Bloomington to play Iowa in a three-game weekend series. Be on the lookout for previews and recaps of those series next week!
